USC Football: Trojans Dip In Latest AP Poll

Another close win costs the Trojans...

Your USC Trojans football team has started the new year out 5-0, but hasn't quite looked like a top college program in recent weeks. After two straight shaky performances, the Trojans standing in the AP Poll took a minor hit and saw them fall down a spot.

They were ranked number eight a week ago but now will enter the season in the ninth spot. This seems somewhat accurate for this team, but they do have some real problems that need to be addressed quickly.

Once again, the Trojans defense played a massive role in how their game against the Colorado Buffalos went. They couldn't stop the Buffalos on defense in the second half of the game, and it showed once again the real issues of this team.

The USC offense showed up and lit up the Buffalos in the first half of the game. But they can't do it all, and the defense let them down.

The issues on the defensive side of the ball plagued this program last year and cost them a spot in the College Football Playoff. And it seems that the same thing is happening once again this season, despite them looking much better in the first few years of the year.

Things don't get easier for the Trojans either, because they have the toughest remaining schedule in the sport the rest of the way. So, something will need to change for this team, otherwise, they can kiss their dreams of winning a national championship goodbye.
