USC Football: Trojans In Running For Top-Ranked CB In Transfer Portal
The USC Trojans are apparently among the top landing spots for the top quarterback in the transfer portal, Cormani McClain, according to Tom Loy of 247Sports.
Loy reports that the Trojans are 'all-in' on McClain, then USC's chances of landing him are great.
McClain entered the transfer portal on Tuesday. The University of South Florida Bulls also rank as a top landing spot. The former five-star recruit attended the University of Colorado as a freshman. McClain stands at 6-foot-2 and weighs 165 pounds. In his 2023 high school class, he was the number 14 overall prospect, number one corner, and the number four player in his home state of Florida.
"For the Trojans, I'm told that their plan is to make a run at McClain," Loy writes. "He is looked at as an immediate-impact talent and player who can help right away. If something changes and they decide against it, that would greatly help South Florida's chances. But if the Trojans are all-in to land the coveted transfer, USC should be looked at as a major threat in this one."
USC's defense was atrocious last season in all aspects, especially their secondary. The Trojans gave up a 64% opponent completion percentage (104th), 7.7 yards per pass (87th), and 246.4 opponent passing yards per game (93rd).
McClain would indeed provide an immediate spark to the Troajnsand D'Anton Lynn's defense in 2024.
We'll see how aggressive the Trojans will be.
