The NFL Trade Deadline has come and gone, and there wasn't exactly tons of action. There were a few deals involving big-name defenders, but compared to other professional sports, it was pretty tame.

However, there was one pretty big deal that came before Tuesday's official deadline day that saw former USC Trojan Leonard Williams get shipped to Seattle from the New York Giants.

Not only did that take Williams to a contender — the Seahawks are currently 5-2 and in first place in the NFC West — it also united him with a true USC legend in head coach Pete Carroll.

Carroll, who's been the coach of the Seahawks since 2010, was with the Trojans from 2000-2009 in what were the true glory days of USC Football.

While Williams didn't begin at USC until 2012, it's safe to assume the dominant Pete Carroll USC days factored into his decision to want to play for the Trojans.

Williams ended up spending three years at Southern California before declaring for the draft, where he went No. 6 overall to the New York Jets in 2015.

The 2016 Pro Bowler signed with the Giants in 2019, and is now heading back to the West Coast for the first time in his professional career.

Expect Williams to play a big part in helping the Seahawks compete in the tough NFC West — and he'll be doing it for a coach he likely idolized growing up in Pete Carroll.
