USC Football: After Rivalry Week Ends In UCLA Upset, Tommy Trojan Vandalized
The USC Trojans are not having the best week, after the team dropped a loss to their cross-town rivals, the UCLA Bruins. To make matters worse, the Bruins can now hold this win above the Trojans for all eternity, as it was their final meeting in the Pac-12.
Both the Trojans and Bruins are set to head to the Big Ten conference starting next year, and though they will become fierce rivals again, UCLA can hold this win over their head.
To make matters worse, the beloved Tommy Trojan was the victim of a vandalization, as an unknown perpetrator decided to paint the statue with some eggs, according to Christina Chkarboul and Nathan Elias of The Daily Trojan.
What makes the matter worse is that the perpetrator was able to egg Tommy Trojan right after the Trojan Knights ended their watch for the statue. Whoever did this knew exactly when to strike.
Thankfully, the statue did not incur any damage, as the entire thing is wrapped in duct tape to prevent that from happening.
Though the rivalry between the Trojans and Bruins always leads to some tomfoolery, but it was a bit insulting to strike the statue after the Knights ended their 24-hour vigilant watch.
The Trojans dropped an important game to the Bruins with a final score of 38-20, capping off a disappointing season. Defensive coordinator Alex Grinch was fired as a result of the Trojans poor defensive output, and more coaching changes are incoming.
Perennial passer Caleb Williams is also set for the NFL. The Trojans might look like an all new team in 2024, and the hope is they can return to championship form.
If they don't, Tommy Trojan won't be the only one with egg on his face.
