USC Football: Caleb Williams’ Latest Accomplishment Hasn’t Been Done in 2 Decades for Trojans
Caleb Williams has already proven that he is one of the best players in college football, winning the Heisman trophy in 2022 and routinely making jaw-dropping plays using both his legs and rocket arm.
On a team with a history of producing great quarterbacks, Williams has done something no USC player has done since Matt Leinart's first and second seasons as a Trojan.
With his first touchdown pass against Colorado Saturday, a 71-yard bomb to wide receiver Tahj Washington, Williams has now accounted for a passing touchdown in 19 straight games for USC. For the record, Saturday marked his 19th game played in cardinal and gold.
Leinart's record extended to 24 consecutive games with a passing touchdown. Considering the sheer dominance Williams displays on a weekly basis, it isn't hard to imagine that a new record will soon be set for USC.
Williams, who has thrown for 17 touchdowns this season and has yet to throw an interception, is again among the favorites to win the Heisman trophy. If he is named the Heisman winner, he would be just the second to ever win college football's highest honor twice. Ohio State's Archie Griffin won it in both 1974 and 1975.
USC currently leads Colorado 34-14 at halftime of Saturday's game.
