USC Football: Caleb Williams Slips from Top 10 in Heisman Race Odds

Caleb Williams looks unlikely to repeat

Saturday was not a good day all around for the USC football team.

The team lost its second consecutive game to a ranked opponent and ultimately ruined any shot they had to make the college football playoff.

Not only was the 34-32 loss to Utah detrimental to the team, but it also had significant implications for quarterback Caleb Williams.

The reigning Heisman trophy winner came into the 2023 season as one of the favorites to win the award again.

Following the loss to Utah, Williams' odds of winning the award in back-to-back years slipped mightily.

Williams has fallen out of this season's top ten of the Heisman race.

At the beginning of the season, Williams was +400 and the favorite to win the award.

Now he is +10000 following week eight of the season.

In the game against Utah, Williams did not play as well as fans have seen in the past.

He finished the game with 256 passing yards but had no throwing touchdowns to show for it.

This comes off of last week's loss, where Williams threw for 199 yards and three interceptions.

Wiliams hasn't played so well in a stretch of games. Despite beating Arizona, Colorado, and Arizona State, USC had to play some close games to get past these Pac-12 foes toward the bottom of the standings.

As USC's schedule doesn't get any easier with three ranked teams in their last four games, it is likely that Williams Heisman campaign is officially over.
