USC Football: DC Opening Top Of Mind For 4-Star 2025 Defender

This hiring will greatly impact the program.

Four-star recruit and Defensive MVP of the Trinity League, linebacker Nasir Wyatt, has spoken about USC's defensive coordinator opening, per Jarett Perez of 247Sports:

"[Riley] said that he can't give me insight, but they got a new person coming that's going to really change the game. I can't wait to see it," said Wyatt.

This is huge from an uncommitted Wyatt, as it suggests that the Trojans have something big in the works, but more importantly, it demonstrates the importance of this DC hire for the Trojans' recruiting efforts.

With plenty of 2025 recruits still undecided on where they want to take their talents at the collegiate level, the Mater Dei product is a terrific representation of what's going on in the minds of recruits.

Clearly, the intent to go to USC, a top program on the West Coast and easily the best middle ground between academics and athletics on the West Coast, is incredibly strong. The only question mark is coaching, and whether or not going to the school would enable them to reach their goals of playing in the NFL.

A top coordinator is what they need to ensure the defense both performs well and develops players, so it's a situation worth monitoring for sure.

Indisputably, however, the Trojans are in a great position to repair their recruiting and performance issues on the defensive side of the ball with the right hire.
