USC Football: Former NFL GM Praises Trojans Caleb Williams as Generational Talent
As the NFL regular season has come to an end, the next big event on the football calendar for the non-playoff teams is the NFL Draft, which will take place in late April.
USC QB Caleb Williams headlines an all-time quarterback draft class along with Heisman Trophy Winner Jayden Daniels, Bo Nix, Michael Penix Jr., Drake Maye, and more.
While some back and forth took place during the season as it pertained to Williams' stock, it appears to have leveled off a bit, with Williams sitting atop the majority of draft boards.
As such, the questions about where Caleb stacks up against other top quarterback prospects in recent years have risen, with former longtime Minnesota Vikings GM Rick Spielman saying the following:
Spielman is clearly incredibly high on Williams, remarking that he'd take him first overall in each of the past 11 drafts, with the only recent "toss-up" being between him and Andrew Luck, who was considered a generational prospect back in 2012.
Now what's interesting about Spielman is that while he's no longer part of the Vikings front office, he's now an advisor for the Washington Commanders, who have the 2nd overall pick.
The Chicago Bears have the 1st overall pick, but because they have quarterback Justin Fields and may commit to him for the long haul, they could potentially work out a deal with the Commanders, whom they've been linked to.
If Spielman, who is on the inside of the Commanders, is this high on Williams, the odds of a trade being made are inarguably higher, making it something to watch ahead of draft day.
Caleb is also a D.C. native, making that fit immaculate.
