USC Football: Former Pro Bowler and NFL Analyst Emphatically Calls Caleb Williams The No. 1 Pick
USC Trojans star quarterback Caleb Williams enters this new college football season hoping to win a National Championship. He and the entire team have some unfinished business to attend to after they just missed out on the College Football Playoff last year.
But as the reigning Heisman Trophy winner goes through his final year in college, NFL teams are already looking ahead to next April. Williams is expected to be the first overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, and throughout the season, we will likely see bad teams try to position themselves to be in a place to take him.
His skill set is off the charts, and many people would agree that he is one of the better prospects in the last few years. Former NFL cornerback and current NFL analyst Ryan Clark had high praise for the USC signal-caller on a recent episode of Get Up on ESPN.Â
Clark made it clear that he believes Williams should easily be the number-one pick next season.
“What sort of writing utensil should I use to write Caleb Williams’ name down at the No. 1 spot? Should I use a Sharpie then? Because I need to use something that you can’t erase, that can’t wash away,” Clark said. “You need to write Caleb Williams’ name down as the No. 1 overall pick in as many ways as you can write it. I don’t care if you use a smoke bomb.”

Williams has helped transform the Trojans into potential title contenders and wants to accomplish just that before he leaves college. Clark added to his comments about Williams.
“The dude is so disrespectful. He is disrespectful in the best way. He’s just having fun.”

The USC quarterback has the chance to do something nobody else in the history of college football has been able to do. That is to win the Heisman Trophy in back-to-back seasons.
Williams should be a lock for the first overall pick as long as he stays healthy. Whatever NFL team does land him, they will set themselves up for major success for years to come.
