Grinch followed head coach Lincoln Riley from Oklahoma and was fired with two regular-season games left on the schedule this past season. In his final two games with USC, the defense surrendered 101 points to Cal and Washington.
Under Grinch's leadership this year, the Trojans' defense allowed 34.5 points per game and was ranked 107th in pass defense and 120th in run defense.
Before his time at Oklahoma, Grinch was a defensive coordinator at Washington State (2015-17) and Ohio State (2018). He has also worked at Mizzou, New Hampshire, and Wyoming.
