USC Football: Former Trojans WR Raleek Brown Commits to Surprising School

Raleek Brown has committed to a surprising school.

The USC Trojans were stunned to find out WR Raleek Brown had decided to enter the transfer portal earlier this month. Brown has not been utilized as much as he could have been in the high-powered offense with Caleb Williams at the helm.

With Williams likely entering the NFL Draft, there is no telling if Lincoln Riley would give Brown more chances over someone like Zachriah Branch. Instead of waiting around to find out his role, Brown has now transferred to ASU.

According to Greg Biggins of 247sports, Brown revealed that he chose to transfer to ASU. One of the reasons is the school's academics.

“From an academic standpoint, ASU has what I was looking for and what I planned to major in to get my degree. I’m majoring in Communication and would love to go into Broadcasting when I’m done playing and they’re strong in that area."

It is very smart to think about the future, especially in football. Anything can happen in his young career to his eventual entrance into the NFL. The human body can't take punishment for long, so wanting to plan for the future is the best thing that Brown can do.

Brown's secondary reason has everything to do with his opportunity with USC, or lack thereof.

“I believe they’re going to use me the way I need to be used to showcase my ability,” Brown said. “I want to show the world what I can really do and ASU is going to give me that opportunity."

USC does have a crowded WR room, so the young man is doing what he can to ensure he gets the chance to showcase his playmaking abilities so that he can eventually make it to the pro level.

Losing Brown could certainly come back to bite the Trojans.
