As the new college football season gets underway soon, the USC Trojans are seen as the favorite in the PAC-12. It will be the schools’ final year in the conference before they move to the Big-10, so they will likely want to make a splash.

USC is also one of the favorites to win the National Championship, with reigning Heisman Trophy winner Caleb Williams returning. The team is all set to get back to contention, but there could be some challenges along the way.

While the PAC-12 is seen as the weaker conference in college football, there are still some teams that, on any given day, could shock the Trojans. One writer seems to believe that one, in particular, could cause some headaches for head coach Lincoln Riley and company.

Antonio Morales of The Athletic believes that the Arizona Wildcats could cause some concern for the Trojans when they meet in early October.

"The school that stands out as a potential spoiler is Arizona. The Wildcats played USC tough last season and will have the best offense that the Trojans face in the first half of the season. It’ll depend on whether good or bad Jayden de Laura shows up at quarterback, but receivers Jacob Cowing and Tetairoa McMillan, running back Michael Wiley and tight end Tanner McLachlan pose a real threat and can make things interesting."

Per The Athletic

The Wildcats and Trojans game last season went down to the wire, with USC pulling out the win by a score of 45-37. This was on the road for the Trojans, and now Arizona will be coming to the Coliseum.

The Arizona offense could be a problem for the Trojans, but the defense for Arizona should also let up a ton of points. The USC offense is too good unless the Wildcats put on a defensive showing for the ages.

USC also improved on defense this offseason, so like any game, it could be a hiccup. But I have faith that USC will learn some real lessons from last season and not allow this game to be as close as it was last year.
