USC Football: Insider Speculates About Top QB Replacements For Caleb Williams
The USC Trojans will be playing in their bowl game in the coming weeks without the services of star quarterback Caleb Williams. Williams opted out of the game, likely with the idea of heading to the NFL in mind.
The Trojans completely underperformed this past season, finishing the year with a 7-5 record. This bowl game against the Louisville Cardinals is their last chance to end the year on a high note and send themselves feeling decent into the summer.
But without Williams, the team will need to look into different options at the quarterback position. Backup Miller Moss will likely get the start for USC, but the team could also look to freshman Malachi Nelson as well.
They likely want to see what they have in both of these players before moving ahead with a plan. But the team could always look into the transfer portal as well.
"With the portal officially opening Monday, the list of available players provides strong options. Washington State’s Cameron Ward and Kansas State’s Will Howard were among the first to get on USC’s radar. Ward, who is looking for his third school after beginning his college career at Incarnate Word, ranked fourth nationally in passing yards per game this season with 311.3."

USC head coach Lincoln Riley will have some tough decisions to make for next season. With the team entering into the Big Ten Conference, he has to get the quarterback decision correct.
Former Oklahoma Sooners quarterback Dillion Gabriel also entered the portal, and he could be an interesting name as well. Either way, the Trojans know that bringing someone in likely gives them a better chance to win next year, which is the only thought on the team of the program right now.
