USC Football: Kliff Kingsbury's Expertise Could Propel Caleb Williams to New Heights
Emerging from his most recent coaching job in the NFL, Kliff Kingsbury signed on with the Trojans this year to be an assistant under Lincoln Riley's staff.
Renowned for his pedigree to help young quarterbacks in his career, Kingsbury's possible involvement in USC's current Heisman winner Caleb Williams' development could be instrumental to the team's success this season.
“Is Kliff going to come in and change things? No,” Wilder said. “But Kliff knows how to push certain quarterbacks past what they’re expected to produce on the field.”

Williams has already proven himself as college football's best player, definitively solidified as the reigning Heisman trophy winner in 2022.
Though such an accomplishment isn't anything to sneeze at, Williams may not be a finished product, as Kingsbury's pension to help young quarterback talent has been well documented in his career.
As the offensive coordinator at Texas A&M, the famed Air Raid system that Kingsbury developed turned Johnny Manziel into Johnny Football. This national phenomenon granted Manziel the privilege of being college football's first-ever freshman Heisman winner.
Continuing at Texas Tech, Kingsbury's system helped Patrick Mahomes II flourish as a Red Raider and eventually be selected as a top 10 pick in his draft class.
Mahomes' success likely contributed to Kingsbury's next job in the NFL with the Cardinals, taking Kyler Murray first overall out of Oklahoma after building a relationship with the former sooner in his high school days.
Though Kingsbury's head coaching career with Murray ended in a less than desirable way in 2022 with both an injury to Murray and an abysmal 4-13 record, the coach has returned to the college game, where he has thrived.
Perhaps Williams could be the next great talent to mold under Kingsbury's tutelage for a team that has championship aspirations in 2024.
