After 14 seasons as the head coach of the Seattle Seahawks, legendary former National Championship-winning USC head coach Pete Carroll is out as the man in Seattle, sources inform ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Carroll will no longer serve as Seattle's head coach, but he will continue to serve as the team's advisor for now, per a statement team owner Jody Allen:

As head coach for the Seahawks, Carroll led them to an 181-131-1 record with a 58% winning percentage. In the postseason, he holds an 11-11 record. One of those wins was in Super Bowl 48, where Seattle dismantled the Denver Broncos 43-8. The following season, he led Seattle to the Super Bowl again but came up short to Tom Brady and the New England Patriots.

Carroll took the Seattle job after nine seasons at the helm at USC. His time at USC was legendary, leading the program to two national championships, two Orange Bowl victories, four Rose Bowl victories, and seven Pac-10 titles from 2002-2008.

The 72-year-old will be a hot commodity for many teams now, as there are six other head coach vacancies in the NFL. Although he isn't a young buck anymore, Pete still has so much energy to lead a team, as we've seen him do with the Trojans and the Seahawks for the past 22 years.

Things just heated up for the entire league, and I'll be shocked if he stays with Seattle as an advisor. Time will only tell who will be interested in the former Super Bowl championship.
