USC Football: MarShawn Lloyd Taken by Recent SB Champion in Latest NFL Mock Draft
The USC Trojans season was one of the more disappointing in a long time. After entering the season with heavy College Football Playoff hopes, the Trojans fell flat on their faces.
However, they did have a few players who shined throughout the year. Their offense was still very effective, and it will lead to the team having some players drafted in the upcoming NFL Draft.
NFL.com's Draft Analyst Chad Reuter put together a three-round mock draft for all teams. Within it, he has Trojans running back MarShawn Lloyd heading to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the third round. Lloyd was selected with pick 102 and would get to play for a recent Super Bowl winner in this scenario.
After transferring from South Carolina, Lloyd fit in well with the Trojans offense. He averaged 7.1 yards per carry, ranking him 4th in the nation amongst running backs. Lloyd scored nine rushing touchdowns, helping give USC's offense an extra boost.
However, his rushing abilities were limited in the air-raid offense. He only rushed for 820 yards on 116 carries this past season.
The 5-foot-9 redshirt junior showed toughness and physicality as a runner, propping himself up in NFL circles. He also showed a nice burst with the ball, which is something teams will be looking for in the draft.
Landing in Tampa Bay would be a solid place for him, and he could play alongside a team that made it to the second round of the playoffs this year. Lloyd could give them a solid depth piece in the backfield and, if given the chance, possibly more.
