When the news broke that the USC Trojans were hiring former UCLA defensive coordinator D'Anton Lynn to take over in the same role for them, it was a little shocking. Not many expected Lynn to switch over to the Trojans, but he is ready for the challenge.

Lynn completely transformed the Bruins' defense this past season, helping them become one of the best in the entire nation. He is hoping to do more of the same with the Trojans but knows that there is plenty of work to do.

However, despite all the struggle from this past season for USC on defense, Lynn doesn't believe that this program is that far off from being strong defensively. He spoke about it, giving some excitement to the fanbase.

“The first thing that sticks out,” Lynn said, “is the team is not that far away.”

The Trojans' defense was a big problem once again this year, and they couldn't stop anyone. They weren't physical enough to bully opponents, which caused issues for them.

Now with the program entering the Big Ten Conference, the Trojans are going to need to beef up. Lynn knows this and spoke about the fact that they need to get bigger in the trenches.

“The Big Ten has big bodies on the offensive and defensive line,” Lynn said, “and that’s something that we need. To get bigger up front.”

If Lynn can help the Trojans' defense even become an average unit, it will be seen as a win for him. This team has been searching for some stability on defense for years now, and hopefully, they have found it with Lynn.
