USC has title aspirations heading into the 2023 college football season, and after coming so close to reaching the College Football Playoff last season, the Trojans are looking for some revenge and want to reach their goals this year. The school hasn’t seen the playoff since it was first adopted in 2014, but this could be the year for them.

They return reigning Heisman Trophy winner Caleb Williams, who should be in line to win the award once again possibly. He is the type of quarterback who can help elevate a roster, but the Trojans possess some real talent in their wide-receiving unit. One, in particular, has been making some headways and could be in line for a strong season.

That would be freshman Zachariah Branch, who could see some playing time if he continues his start with the team. He is a strong pass catcher with elite speed, so he can take the top off a defense for this team. Branch also displays great body control and uses his quickness to get around traffic within his routes.

On3 football writer Matt Zenitz labeled Branch as one of the freshmen that have a chance to make a real impact within the Pac-12 this season.

"Branch has been as advertised through the early part of his time at USC.In addition to being set to make an impact at wide receiver, Branch is also in position to potentially be the Trojans’ punt returner."

Per On3.com

Branch put up 753 yards and 11 touchdowns last season for his high school. He also recorded five punt returns for 90 yards. He is a versatile player that could really help this USC team out this season.

“It was a special first spring for him,” a USC source told On3. “He’s extremely competitive and well-rounded. Super impressive.”

It should be a fun season for the Trojans and their fans. The hope is that Branch can really make a difference and show the program what he can do this season!
