The NFL Draft process is a long, drawn-out procedure that can be grueling for anyone involved. It's multiple league executives, coaches and scouts all asking strange questions to see how a prospect is built both physically and mentally.

It can be exhausting for the players, but they know that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. For USC Trojans quarterback Caleb Williams, his light is the brightest of all in the upcoming NFL Draft.

Williams is expected to go first overall, whether that is to the Chicago Bears, who currently own the pick or a different team. His unique skill set on the field has made teams fall in love with the idea of having him as their franchise quarterback.

However, some off-the-field issues hover around Williams. NFL league sources have questioned his drive due to the high amounts of money he is already making from his NIL deal at USC. Additionally, some have questioned how he would handle playing in the city of Chicago, if the Bears ultimately do draft him.

“Chicago could eat him up,” an executive said.

Chicago is one of the largest markets in the United States, and their fanbase can be unforgiving. But Williams has been used to playing in Los Angeles with the Trojans for the past few years. He has gotten used to the media frenzy that comes with being the starting quarterback for USC, something that can help him down the line.

“Does he have it up here?” a quarterbacks coach said, pointing to his head.

Whether these takes on Williams are fair or not, they will continue until he proves otherwise. Being in the spotlight, everything Williams does will be broken down into every possible angle.

The NFL is a different animal than most realize, and teams want to be certain about a player, especially high draft picks. Williams has the make of being a successful player at the next level, but that also means all the scrutiny that comes with it.
