USC Football: Other Trojans Respond To Pundits’ Predraft Caleb Williams Criticism
USC Trojans QB Caleb Williams is one of the most popular players on the planet right now, and that popularity comes with a ton of criticism. Williams is slated to be the #1 overall pick in the NFL Draft.
The Chicago Bears currently own the #1 pick, and many pundits and experts have pegged Williams as the new QB for the Bears in 2024. Naturally, this would mean the team would need to potentially trade Justin Fields.
Regardless of his draft position, Williams is slated to be a day-one starter based on his skills alone. Trojans players understand how special he is, including wide receiver Brenden Rice, who recently came to the defense of his former QB.
“If you can go ahead and risk [not picking him] and picking apart his game and letting him fall, have fun losing your job, man,” said wide receiver Brenden Rice, son of NFL legend Jerry Rice. “Honestly, have fun. I’m proud of my quarterback.”

Rice might be on to something as whoever whiffs on picking Williams might be looking for a new job. The Bears are more than likely to pick the Trojans QB. If not them, they will trade down to allow someone else to take Willaims.
Either way, Williams will be in the NFL. The Bears will just have to choose if they want to draft the Trojans star or bank more picks.
