USC Football: Redshirt Senior Announces He'll Return In 2024
USC redshirt senior edge rusher Jamil Muhammad announced he will return to the Cardinal Red and gold for the 2024 season.
Muhammad announced that he will be returning to school via Twitter/X.
The Alabama native transferred to USC prior to the 2023 season from Georgia State. The transfer edge rusher played in all 12 games this season and recorded 28 solo tackles, 12 assist tackles, 10 tackles for loss, six sacks, and two forced fumbles. The Trojan defense may not have played well as a whole, but Muhammad recorded career highs in his collegiate career in 2023 with the Trojans.
In his three-year career at Georgia State, he recorded 70 tackles, including 11 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, and one interception in 34 games with ten starts. The edge rusher will look for an even better season in 2024, with the Trojan moving on to the Big 10.
Overall, Jamil will have a chance to raise his NFL Draft stock, and if he can improve in a big way, you can expect to see his name in many draft mocks for the 2025 draft.
The hope now is that Muhammad can flourish in a new system when the Trojans hire their new defensive coordinator. The defense was a negative talking point for much of the season, but there is hope to turn it around when the team heads to the Big Ten conference.
