USC Football: Running Back MarShawn Lloyd Calls His Transfer The Best Decision He's Ever Made

The running back went from the U of SC to the real USC.

Your 2023 USC football club's offense is a machine with many different components, all led by quarterback Caleb Williams, who is fresh off of a Heisman winning season.

One of those parts is running back MarShawn Lloyd, who has been a key contributor to the smooth sailing the Trojan offense has enjoyed for much of the 2023 season.

The USC offense has scored 27 offensive touchdowns, tied with Oregon for the most in college football, and their 9.22 average yards per play is second only to Washington, who is averaging 9.23 yards per play.

Lloyd, who transferred to USC from the University of South Carolina, has accounted for 406 total yards and a pair of touchdowns through the Trojans' first four games. In their 42-28 win over Arizona State Saturday night, Lloyd averaged 11 yards per carry on his way to a season-high 154 yards on the ground.

"Honestly the o-line were blocking perfectly, blocking very perfectly," Lloyd said. "My patience was there — I still need to work on getting down the field, but otherwise I feel like the o-line did a great job and it will only get better."

As USC continues their perfect season with their fourth win, Lloyd took time to appreciate the early success the Trojans have enjoyed, noting that their win over Arizona State marked a career milestone for the junior running back.

"This is my first time in my college career that I've been 4-0," Lloyd said. "I'm super excited, I made the best decision of my life coming here at USC."

Lloyd and the Trojans will look to continue their success when they travel to Boulder to face head coach Deion Sanders' Colorado Buffalos next Saturday.
