The first edition of the College Football Playoff rankings have been revealed, and the USC Trojans came in at the No. 20 spot.

Coming off a 50-49 win over Cal following back-to-back losses against Notre Dame and Utah, there was tons of uncertainty regarding where the Trojans would be ranked.

However, in the first rankings show of the 2023 season, the Trojans made the cut at the No. 20 spot.

The Trojans have plenty of time to rise these rankings, and could still even win the Pac-12.

USC is currently 7-2 overall and 5-1 against the Pac-12 conference, and have a massive matchup with No. 5 ranked Washington coming up this Saturday in Los Angeles.

If the Trojans are able to get the upset win, they would not only shoot up these rankings, but they would put themselves in great position to win the Pac-12 this season.

Following the battle against Washington, the Trojans play the No. 6 ranked Oregon Ducks in Eugene. These two battles will be key in the way the Pac-12 plays out.

The Trojans are one spot behind their rival UCLA Bruins, who came in at the No. 19 spot. The two teams play in two weeks following the Trojans' battles with Washington and Oregon.

Notre Dame, who dominated USC a few weeks ago, is ranked at the No. 15 spot. And Utah, who eked out a win against the Trojans in LA, are at No. 18.
