USC Football: Status of Utah QB Cam Rising Officially Revealed Ahead of Crucial Pac-12 Showdown

USC will look to take advantage
In this story:

The USC Trojans will look for their seventh win of the seaosn and a bounce back after their embarrassing outing in South Bend last week.

It won't be any easier as they take on the defending back-to-back Pac-12 champions, the Utah Utes. The Utes beat the Trojans twice last season, and they will look to redeem themselves today.

However, the Utes have some injuries that could affect them against USC, including their All-Pac-12 QB Cam Rising. Rising won't be available for tonight's ranked matchup in Los Angeles.

Junior QB Bryson Barnes will be the signal caller for the Utes, making this his fifth appearance this season. Throughout the year, he has thrown for 398 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions and has a QBR of 38.1.

Rising has yet to play in the 2023 season after suffering a torn ACL in the Rose Bowl game earlier this year.

It may be a good thing that Rising isn't playing against USC for Trojan fans, as he always puts in his best efforts against Southern California. Last season alone, he threw for 725 yards, five touchdowns, zero interceptions, and had a rating of over 160 in both meetings in 2022.

Still, it won't be easy for the Trojans as Utah is still a top team in the conference with an elite defense that could very much make the USC offense look pedestrian once again. It will be a tall order for the Trojans, but they will be ready in front of their home fans and look to get back on track.

We'll see how the Trojans and Caleb Williams respond to the challenge.
