USC Football: Trojans Bring Over Another DB From UCLA
The USC Trojans are having a field day by adding to their defense. It's great enough that they brought over former UCLA defensive coordinator D'Anton Lynn. Then again, Lincoln Riley has also added Mike Entz from North Dakota State as linebackers coach and Doug Belk from Houston as defensive backs and assistant defensive head coach.
The defensive output was a cause for concern in 2023, especially with how former DC Alex Grinch failed in nearly every aspect. Riley has been deadset on bringing in far more defensive help, and that isn't just on the coaching side.
Former UCLA DB John Humphrey has now committed to USC.
Humphrey comes over likely as a result of the hiring of D'Anton Lynn. However, he isn't the only former Bruin to follow Lynn to USC.
On top of adding Humphrey, USC also brought in safety Kamari Ramsey. Ramsey and Humphrey will instantly make an impact in the back of the defense.
One of the biggest issues for the Trojans last year was falling to big plays. Adding both Ramsey and Humphrey will alleviate that issue immediately.
The Trojans are entering the Big Ten next year, and they will need to revamp their defense to hang with the bigger teams in the conference like Michigan, Ohio State, and Purdue.
However, theses new defensive additions should instantly bolster the team's ability to stop the big plays from happening.
