The University of Southern California has been all over the news as of late for a multitude of reasons. However, Saturday night saw them take home one of their biggest football victories of all time with a 46-point rout over the Stanford Cardinal football team.

Trojans star quarterback Caleb Williams sat out the entire second half and they were still able to maintain their lead en route to a final score of 56-10. There was a lot of history heading into this game between both universities and due to USC heading to the Big Ten Conference and Stanford moving to the Atlantic Coast Conference, fans knew that this match held extra weight.

Stanford was just no match for the Trojans however and they held their momentum all throughout the game. There were a number of question marks surrounding USC's defense heading into this week two showdown but they made sure to answer them and improve to a 2-0 record before their week off.

But SC's 46-point victory actually landed them in the history books and gave Stanford an outcome they hadn't seen in quite some time.

"In the last Pac-12 matchup between longtime conference rivals, No. 6 USC hammered Stanford 56-10, sending the Cardinal into the ACC with its largest margin of defeat in the series since a 42-0 drubbing in 2006."

This was definitely one of those nights where the Trojans' offense was clicking on cylinders but head coach Lincoln Riley does not want them to get too comfortable just yet.

Their 2023 campaign still holds a number of challenges so let's see how they respond. However, a victory like one certainly serves as nothing but positive momentum!
