Even before the USC Trojans took the field in their season opener against the San Jose State Spartans, everyone knew that they would be a high-powered offensive team. It’s just the natural identity of a Lincoln Riley-led football team.

The Trojans put together one of the best offenses in college football last season, and with Heisman Trophy winner Caleb Williams returning, they had everything they needed to duplicate the success. But one question mark would be how the new crop of wide receivers would work out, and at least so far, things look very strong for USC.

In their second game against Nevada, the Trojans receivers looked in sync with Williams. It has a high-flying Ariel attack from USC and helped them dominate the game. LA Times writer Thuc Nhi Nguyen shared some takeaways from the USC victory, including that the receivers have started to find their form in the offense.

“USC is doing just fine without Jordan Addison.”

Per Thuc Nhi Nguyen of The LA Times

Receiver Brenden Rice had some high praise for his teammates

“This group of recievers [sic] is special,” receiver Brenden Rice tweeted after the game. “Anyone can eat at any given moment. What’s even crazier is that any of these guys could be the number 1 receiver at any other school and we all together.”

The Trojans offense is their bread and butter. So you can rely on the fact that they will help keep this team in games this season. In fact, it’s needed because their defense is still a work in progress.

The Trojans have high expectations for this team, and the offense will need to carry them as the year goes on. Williams is going for his second Heisman Trophy, and Riley wants to make a statement in his second year with the team.

If this weekend was any indication, most people would say that the Trojans are on the right track.
