USC football: Trojans predicted to land 5-star tight end
College football recruiting analyst Blair Angulo submitted a new crystal ball prediction on Thursday.
It's going to make USC fans very happy.
Angulo forecasts that 5-star Arizona tight end Duce Robinson is going to pick the Trojans. Robinson hasn't signed with a school yet because he's still weighing his future. In addition to being a top football recruit, he's also a stand out baseball prospect who could get drafted in this summer's MLB Draft.
Choosing baseball over football isn't out of the question for Robinson.
He said in a National Signing Day interview with ESPN that "the plan is fluid,” in regards to whether he'll play college football or go pro in baseball. If Robinson chooses to play college football, he also plans to play college baseball.
Baseball America describes Robinson, an outfielder, as "extremely intriguing but also a much-less known commodity than much of the rest of the high school draft class."
The MLB Draft is set for July 9 to July 11.
Robinson told Angulo in an interview earlier this month that he's planning to sign with a college program by April 1.
“April 1st is the cut-off date so I’ll have a decision by then,” he said. “As far as when that date might be, I couldn’t really tell you. I hundred percent plan on committing and signing to a school and being there whenever move-in day is.”
In addition to USC, Alabama, Georgia, Oregon and Texas are Robinson's other finalists.
Here's a portion of 247Sports.com's scouting report on Robinson as a college football recruit:
"Robinson has unlimited potential. With his skill set and physical abilities, he could be an all conference performer for multiple years. I see him as a player that has NFL ability and should be an early round pick in his future."
