USC Football: Zachariah Branch's Performance Echoes Vibes of USC Football Icon
The USC Trojans put on a stomping on the San Jose Spartans, 56-28, in convincing fashion (toward the second half). Although the Trojan defense is the talk of the town and is quite a concern, on the contrary, the offense was spectacular, like how we all thought it would be.
Things were clicking, the ball was moving, and in large part, thanks to true freshman wide receiver Zachariah Branch. Branch shined in his college football debut, putting up video game-like numbers and taking the college football world by storm on Saturday night.
He's already garnered so much praise from many, including On3's college football expert J.D. PicKell. In PicKell's latest episode, he discussed Brnach's debut and said it gave him the vibes of USC great Reggie Bush and how he would electrify the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.
Branch certainly had himself a night racking up 232 all-purpose yards, one receiving touchdown, one kick return touchdown, and four receptions for 58 yards and 12 rushing yards.
Reggie Bush is no stranger to making highlight plays and making defenders look foolish, and Branch did those two things against San Jose State.
The kid can do it all, and if you didn't get a chance to check him out, check out some of his best plays from Saturday night.
It's one week, and the Bush comparisons may be premature; however, you cannot deny the raw talent from Branch. He could only get better from here, and soon enough, that Reggie comparisons may be warranted.
Branch should only get better from here, and we cannot wait to see what else he brings to the table each and every Saturday.
