The quest for a 12th national championship will soon be upon us, Trojan fans. It will all start less than two weeks from now in the Week 0 matchup against the San Jose St. Spartans.

The Trojans will open up that game at home, and after months of guessing where they'll land in the rankings, we finally know where SC falls.

The first AP Poll of the season was released a while ago, and your Trojans are ranked at number six.

The five teams in front of SC are LSU, Alabama, Ohio State, Michigan, and defending champions Georgia.

The Trojans are their highest-ranked Pac-12 team, with Washington being the second highest as they land in the Top 10 at number 10.

There was no doubt that Southern California would be top 10, and a number six ranking seems fair. Although they are coming off two ugly losses from last season, they still have a plethora of talent on both sides of the ball and a much-improved defense with some returners and transfers ready to make an impact.

Six is fine for now, but the only ranking that will matter is once we get down to the college football playoff rankings. USC isn't too far from it now, but they must dominate and take care of their opponents at hand to appear in their first CFB Playoff.

It will be a long season, but it should be a fun one that fans should never forget.

We can't wait to get the season rolling.
