USC Trojans Recruiting: Can USC Steal 4-Star Quarterback From Texas A&M Aggies?

One of the USC Trojans quarterback targets in the 2026 recruiting class is set to announce his commitment early next month, with the Trojans firmly in the mix. The Texas A&M Aggies are the early favorites to land Corner Canyon (UT) quarterback Helaman Casuga.

USC Trojans prospect, four-star Corner Canyon (UT) quarterback Helaman Casuga will announce his commitment next month, as reported by 247Sports.

Casuga will choose between Arizona, Auburn, BYU., Nebraska, Texas A&M, USC, Utah and Washington on Oct. 8 at 7:30 p.m. MT. The Chargers' standout originally revealed his top eight schools in August.

Listed at 6-foot-1 and 198 pounds, Casuga is ranked the No. 79 overall prospect and No. 6 quarterback in the 2026 recruiting class, according to Rivals.

While Texas A&M is the favorite to land Casuga, according to On3, the 4-star signal caller's social media header is a photo of him on a visit to Southern Cal, possibly indicating that the Provo, UT, product is leaning towards USC.

"Who doesn't want to play for coach Lincoln Riley," Casuga told 247Sports. "Coach Riley was one of the first to see something in me and continues to send his staff out to check in on me."

The quarterback's admiration for USC's head ball coach comes after Riley's success working with a number of quarterbacks. Under his tutelage, Baker Mayfield, Kyler Murray and Caleb Williams all won the Heisman Trophy and were selected with the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL Draft.

Jalen Hurts didn't win the award, but was the Heisman Trophy runner-up to Joe Burrow during his lone year under Riley before being selected in the second round of the NFL Draft and nearly winning an MVP award and a Super Bowl ring early in his career.

If Lincoln Riley and the Trojans are able to land a commitment from Casuga in a few weeks, it would bolster what is already a strong group for USC in the 2026 cycle. Currently, Riley and company boast six commitments in upcoming class, giving Southern Cal the No. 7 recruiting class in the nation, per On3.

With a good arm, solid accuracy and strong decision making, Casuga would be a great fit for RIley's offense. The junior quarterback completed 19-of-23 passes for 300 yards and four touchdowns while adding another score on the ground in Corner Canyon's most recent contest.

"Super productive QB who has been putting up big numbers since his freshman season. Threw for 4,145 yards and 34 touchdowns as a sophomore while completing nearly 65% of his passes," Greg Biggins wrote for 247Sports. "Natural thrower, strong mechanically with a quick release. Can get the ball down the field on a rope and is very good extending plays and making something happen when the pocket breaks down. Has excellent pocket mobility, can make defenders miss and doesn’t panic when pressured."

If Riley and company can get Casuga on board, the program's success of the recruiting trail in the 2026 class will likely continue past the star quarterback.
