Watch: USC football's Andrew Vorhees bench presses 225 pounds 38 times after tearing ACL
Andrew Vorhees is a true football guy.
The former USC offensive lineman and top NFL Draft prospect tore his ACL during drills at the NFL Combine on Sunday.
But that didn't keep him away from the event.
Amazingly on Monday morning, Vorhees returned to the combine on crutches with his right leg in an air cast to participate in the bench press. With just one leg firmly on the ground, Vorhees managed to rep 225 pounds a whopping 38 times, which led all prospects.
Watch Vorhees' bench press performance below.
Vorhees' ACL tear was a clean one, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Following the injury USC head coach Lincoln Riley tweeted: "Complete warrior…played hurt the entire 2nd half of the season when most would have shut it down…whatever team drafts him will be getting an absolute dude in the trenches."
Vorhees started 11 games at left guard for USC last fall. He earned an overall offensive grade of 81.9 from Pro Football Focus, which ranked ninth in the nation among guards who played at least 213 snaps. SI's NFL Draft Bible projected Vorhees to get picked in the fourth round of April's NFL Draft prior to his injury.
Here's some of the NFL Draft Bible's scouting report on Vorhees:
"Vorhees has experience starting at right guard, left tackle, and left guard, with nearly 3,500 offensive snaps under his belt. He possesses a wide frame with an anchor to absorb and deaden power rushes. Vorhees’ wide and powerful base makes him a stout obstacle for pass rushers. He has quick feet and shuffle steps that remain low to the ground. In pass protection, the All-American guard displays independent hand usage. He has a strong understanding of redirecting defenders around the pocket. Vorhees’ motor runs hot, and he scans the field for extra work. He’ll oscillate to help the center and left tackle on the same play. The sixth-year prospect displays sufficient speed and mobility to handle pulling duties and properly identifies and eliminates threats as a pulling guard. Vorhees seals linemen inside or out on run plays with ease. His leg drive creates displacement in the run game, and he generates displacement on down blocks."
