Two weekends ago, four-star Judson (Converse, Texas) safety Myles Davis took an official visit to USC.

Davis told 247Sports.com's Steve Wiltfong after the trip: “USC is in serious consideration for being my home."

Ten days later, the mutual interest is still there.

In a phone conversation on Tuesday, Davis told SI All Trojans:

"As far as my top schools, USC is definitely [recruiting me the hardest]. Texas A&M is one though that could definitely do some damage."

Despite loving the USC visit, Davis still plans on visiting four schools and maybe a couple others before committing. Trips to the University of Washington, Texas, Texas A&M and TCU have all been scheduled.

Davis, who's ranked as the No. 344 prospect nationally, said he's likely to release a list of his top eight or nine finalists this week.

MORE ABOUT USC

Over the weekend, Lincoln Riley and cornerbacks coach Donte Williams spoke with Davis over the phone.

"The whole staff, you can tell they're Coach Riley's people," Davis said. "I was talking to Coach Riley a couple days ago, doing a little check in and everything was good. I was also talking to Coach Donte about my fit and how USC going to the Big Ten suits me."

In terms of Davis' future position, it's whichever safety spot can get him on the field fastest.

"They feel like I'm one of the best players and they'll put me where I need to be," he said.

When Davis visited USC, an NIL meeting with the school was part of the itinerary.

"We talked about it, about the range I'd be making coming in," Davis said.

Davis even spent some time at the Riley residence on the trip.

"Me and Coach Riley had some really good conversations," Davis said. "We went to his house. Me and him had a one-on-one, just kinda looking at the back view of his home, talking about football and how he got into coaching because eventually I want to get into coaching. That really meant a lot to me."

Davis said that USC's struggles on defense last season are an "interesting" factor in his recruitment, but at the end of the day he plans to "commit to a school and not so much a coach."

"I wanna play for the coaches that recruited me," he said. "I feel like Coach [Alex] Grinch could be there, but it's always unpredictable. In college football everything is unpredictable. So just seeing how it pans out, it will a very serious factor. Obviously I wanna play for Coach Grinch, Coach Williams and Coach Riley, but if Coach Grinch were to leave, I'd be committing to the school really not so much the coach. But the coaches of course play a big part of why I'm going to the school. Hopefully their defense does well, that would be a definite bonus."

Ideally, Davis hopes to commit to a school in July after all of his visits.

"It kinda all depends," he said. "I know USC is only taking two safeties. I want to wait until July. But it kinda all depends on how these other visits go, especially Texas A&M. We'll see how that one goes."
