USC Basketball: Trojans Sign Idaho's Top Hoops Prospect
He gave his verbal commitment to USC back in August, but today he made it official. Owyhee (Meridian, ID) shooting guard Liam Cambell is officially a Trojan. He revealed why he committed to USC in an interview with On3's Joe Tipton back in August, citing his belief that USC was the best spot to develop him as a basketball player while also competing for a national championship. The 6-4 Cambell chose USC after considering Utah State, Stanford, St. Mary’s, Santa Clara, Washington State, and others.
Cambell, during the time leading up to his commitment, has displayed an ability to stretch defenses with his shooting range while also being a smart playmaker and facilitator. SB Live called Cambell "one of the top-20 multi-purpose guards in the country" entering the 2023-2024 hoops season.
Cambell officially joins a 2024 recruiting class that also features Harvard Westlake (Studio City, CA) guard Trent Perry alongside Corner Canyon (Draper, UT) power forward Brody Kozlowski. 247 Sports has their 2024 class ranked 10th best in the country. The Trojan's 2023 class, headlined by Bronny James and Isaiah Collier was ranked 3rd in the country (247 Sports).
Needless to say, Andy Enfield and the USC men's basketball staff have been recruiting their tail off. Trojan fans have reason to expect a good season from their basketball team, especially considering the return of leading scorer Boogie Ellis along with a solid recruiting class. With the one-and-done talk around Bronny James and Isaiah Collier, Cambell might be needed sooner rather than later to contribute in the USC backcourt
