USC football continues pursuit of 4-star linebacker Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa

Viliamu-Asa is ranked as the No. 6 linebacker prospect in the country and the No. 69 overall recruit by 247Sports.com

In the 2023 recruiting cycle, the USC coaching staff added the No. 1 linebacker on their board in Tackett Curtis.

“You go into Louisiana and by our evaluations land the top linebacker in the country...if you were drafting the guy with the No. 1 pick, that’s what Tackett was for us," Lincoln Riley told Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports.com in April.

And now in the 2024 class, the USC staff has its eyes on another premier linebacker.

Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa is the Trojans' latest top linebacker priority.

Viliamu-Asa attends St. John Bosco High School in Southern California. He's ranked as the No. 6 linebacker prospect in the country and the No. 69 overall recruit by 247Sports.com.

When he took an unofficial visit to USC in April, the whole football staff greeted Viliamu-Asa and his family. At St. John Bosco's spring showcase on Wednesday, USC linebackers coach Brian Odom was in attendance (so was cornerbacks coach Donte Williams).

Viliamu-Asa is being recruited like a No. 1 option.

OFFICIAL VISITS

Viliamu-Asa will take an official visit to USC in June. He also plans to officially visit Notre Dame and Ohio State.

When he announced his top three schools last month, Viliamu-Asa said of USC:

"It's a great staff and they are going in the right direction. Living in California, [and coming to USC] would be building my legacy at home with my family there. That's what I really like."

In an interview with 247Sports.com's Chris Trevino on Wednesday, Viliamu-Asa emphasized the importance of USC's strong academic reputation.

"I wasn't aware of how much a USC degree means in California and how impactful a business degree from SC is," he said.

Fighting off Notre Dame and Ohio State will be a challenge, but it's clear the USC staff is working hard on this recruitment.
