USC Football Flips 2024 Offensive Tackle From Stanford

Justin Tauanuu decommitted from Stanford last night, and became a Trojan this morning

Huntington Beach (Huntington Beach, CA) 2024 offensive tackle Justin Tauanuu committed to USC today after decommitting from Stanford less than 24 hours prior. He was committed to Stanford as a part of an impressive 2024 recruiting class for the Cardinal that also featured quarterback Elijah Brown. With the addition of Tauanuu, USC's 2024 class is now up to 17 commits and Tauanuu's pledge represents the fourth offensive line commit in this cycle for the Trojans.

Tauanuu was offered by USC back in May and committed to Stanford in June. Luckily for the Trojans, they were able to get Tauanuu on campus multiple times since he committed to Stanford. Those visits surely played a huge factor in his eventual flip.

So, what are the Trojans getting in Tauanuu? He is rated a three or four-star prospect by all the major recruiting networks. His film form his junior season shows a ton of potential. While he may not be a big hulking 300-pounder, Tauanuu has the frame necessary to carry additional weight without slowing him down all that much. He's a super athletic swing tackle that, although raw, has the tenacity and physicality that offensive line coaches covet. While his pad level wasn't consistent in his junior Hudl tape, the AllTrojans.com staff agreed this is something that is coachable at the next level. So, he may take a while to develop for the Trojans, but all the physical tools are there for him to develop into an athletic, punishing offensive tackle for the Trojans.
