USC Football: 3 Class Of 2024 Prospects Trojans Should Prioritize

USC has some work to do on the recruiting trail
In this story:

USC's 2024 recruiting class is looking good but not great.

With 16 current commits, they are behind the ball if you compare their class by volume to other top programs around the country. According to 247Sports, they are tied for last in overall commits out of the top 40 programs. So, while the recruits that USC has commitments from consist of players from all position groups (except quarterback), they lack both the volume and the star power their competitors have.

With this in mind, as well as taking into account some recent recruiting developments, AllTrojans.com breaks down three more recruits that USC ought to focus on as this 2024 cycle reaches its finale.

Top Three Uncommitted 2024 Recruits USC Should Focus On

#3: Armijo High School (Fairfield, CA) Defensive Lineman Jericho Johnson

He has one of the highest floors out of this cycle's defensive linemen. Jericho Johnson comes in at 6'4, 300 pounds, and plays with elite physicality. We have seen the impact that Georgia transfer Bear Alexander has had in the middle of the defensive line for USC this season. As USC joins the Big 10, offensive and defensive line play become more important than ever for the Trojans. USC needs to stabilize the center of its defensive line to withstand the more run-friendly offenses of the Big 10. Johnson could be the answer.

He listed USC in his top schools along with Oregon, Utah, and Washington. He has visited Oregon recently, as well as Washington. He would be a massive commitment should USC land him.

#2: Silsbee High School (Silsbee, TX) Athlete Drelon Miller

One of the best-listed athletes in his class, Drelon Miller recently decommitted from Texas A&M. He listed USC in his top schools prior to his commitment. Miller is an elite offensive weapon with the potential to line up all over the field. The air raid offense that Lincoln Riley's offenses run rely on getting speedsters the ball, often, in space. With experience lining up all over his high school team's offense, successfully, he is a natural fit for Riley's offense. The vision he has as a ball carrier, as well as the speed he brings to an offense are what makes him special.

#1: Salpointe Catholic (Tucson, AZ) Edge Defender Elijah Rushing

Elite edge defender Elijah Rushing was committed to Arizona at one point, but just a couple of weeks ago he decommitted. With his recruitment open, USC should spare no expense to court the 6'5, 250-pound pass rusher. Rushing is a very high-ceiling prospect. He has some room to fill out and nobody can project how pass rushers react to college-level physicality, but all signs point to Rushing being an immediate impact player wherever he may land at the next level. He also listed USC in his top school list prior to his commitment to Arizona.

USC's 2024 class is in need of more commits if they want to match the pace of the top programs in the country. Landing any one of the recruits above would be a big deal for the Trojans as they enter the Big 10.
