USC Football: Trojans Offer 2024 East Coast Cornerback
The Trojans finished their early signing period with 19 signed letters of intent. That's good for the 20th-ranked 2024 signing class, according to 247 Sports. However, a handful of uncommitted recruits remain in the class of 2024, one of them being St. Frances Academy (Baltimore, MD) cornerback Kevyn Humes.
Back in November, Humes took to X to share his list of top schools (Notre Dame, Alabama, Georgia, Oregon and Penn State), but that didn't stop USC from offering him.
The Trojans are in the middle of a defensive philosophy switch with new defensive coordinator D'Anton Lynn putting at a premium versatile players who can play multiple positions. According to On3's industry composite rankings, the 5-11 170-pound Humes is a four-star prospect, 384 34 12 the 384th-best recruit in his class, the 12th prospect coming out of Maryland, and the 34th-best cornerback in this cycle.
USC has letters of intent from four defensive backs in their 2024 cycle as it stands. Worth noting is that Humes recently reclassified to their 2024 class after spending the majority of his high school career in the class of 2025. Humes has official visits scheduled to Florida, Penn State, and Syracuse.
All things considered, it would be a huge get for USC if Humes ends up as a Trojan, given how late in the picture the Trojans arrived. But at this point in time, it seems unlikely that the Trojans will be able to nab Humes away from schools that have been courting him for far longer.
