USC Football: Trojans Sign Division Three Transfer Out of Tufts University

Trojans take a dip into the portal for a proven difference-maker

Jaden Richardson took to his official X/Twitter account today to announce his transfer to USC. The 6-2, 210-pound senior wide receiver out of San Mateo, CA is coming off a fantastic season for Division III Tufts University in Massachusetts. Richardson was recently named the co-offensive player of the year in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC).

He hauled in just under 100 yards per game to go along with 13 touchdown receptions through 9 games this past season. Richardson currently owns the Tufts University record for touchdown receptions (20).

In signing Richardson, USC is looking to replace two solid receivers who will be in the 2024 NFL draft (Tahj Washington and Brenden Rice). USC is also losing highly-touted wide receiver Mario Williams to the transfer portal.

Today is the final day of the winter transfer portal window. The Trojans have managed to haul in a decent pool of transfers during this period including former UCLA defensive backs Kamari Ramsey and John Humphrey, and former Mississippi State Bulldogs running back Jo'Quavious Marks and cornerback DeCarlos Nicholson.

Richardson will compete against standout true freshman Zachariah Branch, Makai Lemon, Kyron Hudson, Duce Robinson, Dorian Singer, Ja'Kobi Lane, and fellow newcomer Xavier Jordan (amongst others) for the few starting wideout spots in Lincoln Riley's 2024 offense.

Jaden Richardson will have two years of eligibility remaining. Richardson selected USC after considering offers from Wisconsin, Washington, UCF, Iowa State, Georgia Southern, Cal, and Utah to name a few. The Trojans will be looking for Richardson to come in and contribute immediately to their offense in their first season in the Big 10.
