USC men's basketball makes top 8 for 4-star center prospect

Sunrise Christian (Wichita, Kan.) four-star center John Bol is ranked as the No. 25 player nationally

It's been a busy week for the USC men's basketball program on the recruiting trail. Last weekend, Bronny James committed to USC which made national headlines. Days later, the Trojans secured a commitment from Washington State forward transfer DJ Rodman. The addition of Rodman will provide USC with some much needed depth in the front court.

Some more front court help could be on the way two seasons from now as well.

On Friday morning, 2024 Sunrise Christian (Wichita, Kan.) four-star center John Bol announced his top eight college choices and USC made the cut.

Bol stands at 7-foot-1 and weighs 190 pounds. He's ranked as the No. 25 player nationally and the No. 4 center prospect by 247Sports.com.

The other top schools for Bol are Wake Forest, Florida, Missouri, Michigan, Texas, UConn and Overtime Elite, a professional basketball league for 16–20-year-olds, based in Atlanta.

USC currently does not have a commitment in its 2024 recruiting class.

ROSTER FIT

USC starting center Joshua Morgan enters the 2023-24 season with only one year of eligibility remaining, so Bol would come in and replace Morgan if he signed.

Vincent Iwuchukwu, USC's other scholarship center, is entering his sophomore year. If he stays in school/doesn't transfer, he'd likely start in Morgan's absence with Bol playing behind him in 2023-24. Iwuchukwu was ranked as the No. 25 player nationally in the 2022 class, but a heart problem and back injury limited the center to only playing 14 games as a freshman at USC.

It's worth noting that USC still has one open scholarship for next season. If they choose to recruit the portal again, the staff would likely add a forward or center to fill the last spot.
