USC Sports Round-Up: JuJu Watkins, Women's Volleyball, Men's Water Polo
Your USC Trojans are taking especially big strides this week. Let's break them all down.
Women of Troy freshman guard JuJu Watkins, a five-star prospect out of Sierra Canyon School in Chatsworth, saved the day at the last second against Penn State, scoring a team-most 31 points, including this game-salvaging bucket:
Watkins also pulled down 12 boards, notes Ahmad of Akkaoui of USCFootball.com. Junior center Rayah Marshall logged another double-double (11 points 10 boards).
“Coach said go do your thing, give JuJu the ball, and let's try to win this,” Watkins said. “To have a team that believes in me so much and just to contribute to the team in such a positive way. It's my job here.”
The USC women's volleyball team is concluding its 2023-24 fall season this week, first with a 3-1 defeat at the hands of the No. 6-ranked Oregon Ducks Tuesday, and finally with a 7 p.m. matchup Friday against the UCLA Bruins, London Wijay, a freshman offensive hitter, logged an 11-kill, 11-dig double-double.
Finally, Trojans men's water polo standout Max Miller has been honored as the Tournament MVP for the MPSF Men's Water Polo Tournament, in helping lead USC to its second consecutive MPSF Tournament title.
