USC Basketball: Former Arkansas Transfer Commit Following Eric Musselman To Trojans
Former UMass forward Josh Cohen is now transferring to USC instead of Arkansas. Cohen initially committed to transfer to Arkansas to be coached under Eric Musselman, but the 6-foot-10 forward will now switch his commitment to USC to remain under Musselman. Musselman was just hired to become the next head coach of Trojans basketball, after previously guiding the Razorbacks for five years.
Cohen announced his decision on social media with a photo of him in a USC Trojans basketball jersey, along with the caption "#NewProfilePic."
Cohen comes to USC after spending last season with UMass and the previous four seasons with St. Francis. In his most recent season, Cohen shot 54.4% from the field and averaged 15.9 points, 6.8 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game.
The addition of Cohen is an important one for USC, who appear to be facing a great amount of roster turnover. With the departure of former Trojans head coach Andy Enfield to SMU, USC saw commits Trent Perry and Liam Campbell request releases from their National Letters of Intent to reopen their recruitment. The Trojans were already losing Boogie Ellis, DJ Rodman and Joshua Morgan to graduation, and now have seen these commits look to be recruited elsewhere. In addition, USC has seen Kobe Johnson transfer to UCLA, Vincent Iwuchukwu enter the NCAA transfer portal, and Bronny James declare for the NBA Draft and enter the transfer portal.
With all these pieces gone, Cohen will be one of the building blocks for Musselman as he rebuilds this USC team and roster. Musselman will get to speak more on his plans for the team at his introductory press conference on Friday.
