Alissa Pili Projected as a Top 10 Pick in Latest ESPN WNBA Mock Draft
With the college basketball season reaching its twilight, mock drafts are starting to ramp up and Utah's marquee star Alissa Pili is among the stacked 2024 WNBA draft class. In ESPN's latest WNBA mock draft, Michael Voepel has the Utes star going to the Dallas Wings with the 9th pick.
In his breakdown of Pili and the fit with Dallas, Voepel said, "Pili has shown dazzling offensive skill in college, but it is uncertain how that will translate in the pro game. Her 3-point shooting ability -- making 57 this season and 121 in her college career -- could help Dallas. But will she be good enough on offense to get court time to improve defensively? Wings coach Latricia Trammell is known for developing players and teaching defense. So it depends on whether the Wings see a place for Pili and believe she can really get better."
Pili is fresh off the best season of her collegiate career, where she averaged 21.4 points per game, shooting 55% from the field and 40.4% from beyond the arc. She accompanied her impressive scoring prowess with an average of 6.6 rebounds per game and 2.4 assists per game, while also sinking free throws at an 82% clip.
The Anchorage, Alaska native spent three seasons at USC before transferring to Utah, where she ultimately made a name for herself and cemented her legacy. Her physicality and consistent scoring ability mixed with her understanding and control regarding the flow of the game makes Pili a nightmare for opposing defenders in the paint or from range. She will make an immediate impact for whichever organizations drafts her and will prove to be a dynamic asset in any system and role she finds herself in.
