The Utah Runnin' Utes have been hot as of late despite missing a couple of key starters, and arguably the biggest reason why is the emergence of point guard Deivon Smith.

The Georgia Tech transfer has exploded over the past three games thanks to an expanded role. Since being inserted into the starting lineup, Smith has been averaging 19.0 points, shooting 52% from the field, while also disturbing the ball at an elite clip averaging eight assists, while also grabbing 7.5 rebounds. Thanks to his strong introduction into the starting five, Utah swept the two Oregon schools for just the third time in the Pac-12 era as they capped off the week with a huge win over Oregon who was one of the hotter teams in the country.

On Monday, it was revealed that Smith was named Pac-12 Player of the Week over notable players such as Arizona's Pelle Larsson, Cal's Jaylon Tyson, and Washington State's Myles Rice.

Smith and the Utes will now hit the road for their next two games as they are taking on Washington State on Wednesday in Pullman, and will cap off the two-game road trip in Seattle against the Huskies.
