NEW YORK CITY-On Monday, Utah star forward Alissa Pili heard her name called early in the WNBA Draft.

She was taken with the No. 8 pick by the Minnesota Lynx after her stellar season that saw her average 21.4 points and 6.1 rebounds while shooting 56.8% from the field, and 40.4% from deep. After being drafted, Pili, who is of Samoan and Alaska Native descent, spoke on the importance of representation, and also how she hopes to be a role model for girls like her.

According to Spotrac, Pili is set to make $324,383 dollars over the first four years of her WNBA contract. She is set to make her WNBA debut on May 14 against the Seattle Storm.
