A recent article from AthlonSports writer Steven Lassan prepared one spring camp question for each Big 12 team in 2024. The question for Utah was a familiar inquiry: Does QB Cameron Rising look 100 percent?

The health of Utah’s starting quarterback has been a hot topic of discussion in the early weeks of spring camp.

Rising suffered a severe knee injury in Utah’s Rose Bowl loss to Penn State in January 2023. The injury would cause him to miss the entirety of the team’s final Pac-12 season.

While questions regarding Rising’s health still linger due to the severity of his injury, the sixth-year quarterback has shown no signs of slowing down in early spring practices.

During one of the first sessions of Utah’s spring camp, Rising opened up media availability with a quarterback keeper to the endzone. The singular play seemingly silenced any remaining doubt that the quarterback might have lingering injury discomfort. After the practice, Rising would express confidence in his return to form noting:

“I’m pretty dang close [to 100%]. Yeah, I don’t know what exactly a hundred percent is always, but yeah, I think I’m close to it.”

In the two weeks since spring camp began, Rising has continued to look strong and mobile. Between escaping the pocket for long throws, designed quarterback rushes, and everything in between, Utah’s leader hasn’t shown any signs of discomfort.

Rising’s health is a wonderful sight for Utah fans and coaches alike. One of the most impactful players on the field when healthy, he will be imperative to Utah’s Big 12 Title hopes in 2024.
