Big 12 Expansion Talks With Gonzaga to Resurface

The Big 12 is considering the addition of Gonzaga

In 2024, the Big 12 will look completely different than it did a year ago, or even how it looks currently. 

Texas and Oklahoma will be in the SEC, while the conference got eight programs from across the country to join including Utah. This year they saw BYU, Cincinnati, Houston, and UCF join while next year Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado, and Utah will be joining the party.

However, according to a report from the Houston Chronicle, the Big 12 is set to meet next week to discuss the possible addition of Gonzaga. The basketball powerhouse without a football program was linked to the Big 12 a few months ago, but was ultimately shelved. 

The report indicated that the conference may take a vote on their entry, which would require nine stamps of approval compared to needing 12 if they were to vote in the summer. If the Big 12. were to add Gonzaga, they'd have a handful of the biggest brands in the sport, something that Brett Yormark has made clear he values.
