In this story:

On Wednesday, it was reported by On3 that Utah running back Ja'Quinden Jackson will be entering his name into the transfer portal.

The news comes just a few days after their bowl game loss to Northwestern. Jackson transferred to Utah from Texas as a quarterback, as he was at one point ranked as the No. 46 player in the country as a recruit. He also ranked as the No. 3 quarterback, and No. 7 player in the state of Texas according to 247Sports.

He spent just one year at Texas where he didn't see action, before he transferred to Utah. In Salt Lake City, Jackson made the switch to running back in 2022 and made an immediate impact. Over the past couple of seasons, Jackson rushed for 531 yards with nine touchdowns in 2022, and rushed for a career-high 797 yards this season with four scores.

In his short time as a running back, Jackson emerged as a powerful back. However, in 2023 he like seemingly almost every player on the team for Utah was somewhat banged up.

As a recruit hailing from Dallas, Jackson chose Texas over programs like Alabama, Oklahoma, LSU, Florida State, SMU, and Arkansas.

Jackson was ranked as a three-star transfer when he came over from Texas.
