On Thursday, which is a week prior to Utah's first game of the season on Aug. 31st against the Florida Gators, the Utes released their first official depth chart for the 2023 season.

While there are other position battles that many fans are looking out for there is one that stands out from among the rest, the quarterback battle. Not because Cam Rising is at risk of losing his starting spot, but because his injury status has been a mystery this entire offseason.

There has been an ongoing battle for the backup role which could end up being the starting quarterback, which as of this past week was between Bryson Barnes and Nate Johnson. According to the depth chart, Rising is listed as the starter.

It is worth noting that Rising has yet to be fully cleared, and that Whittingham has already joked that he wouldn't mind waiting until 10 minutes before the game to announce if Rising will actually go.

As for now, Rising appears to be a go.
