Kyle Whittingham Likes His Pig Farmer At QB More Than USC's Heisman Winner

Utah beat USC for the fourth straight time on Saturday
In this story:

Saturday in Los Angeles was quite the outing for the Utah Utes, who were able to upset the No. 18 USC Trojans at their place by a score of 34-32.

The win marked the fourth consecutive time that Utah has beaten USC, and this time may have been the sweetest. With USC coming off a loss to Notre Dame, but still having a chance at making the playoff and Pac-12 title game, there was a notion flying around that they would simply beat up Utah to bounce back

That wasn't the case by any means as the Utes, who were down to their third-string quarterback and a handful of other reserves now starters outmatched the Trojans all game long. USC was able to take a late lead, but Bryson Barnes led the Utes down the field to set up a game-winning field goal.

Something that head coach Kyle Whittingham made sure to shout out after the game, bringing up the fact that Barnes is from a small town where he farmed pigs.

"They've got a Heisman Trophy winner at quarterback," said Whittingham. "So they're gonna make some things, and that's just the way it is. But we've got ourselves a pig farmer at quarterback, so we're proud of that guy, too."

Barnes outperformed Williams, throwing for 235 yards and three passing touchdowns, while also rushing for a score. The win for Utah keeps them in the mix for the Pac-12, and also keeps them in the mix for having a chance at making the playoff. As for Barnes, barring any injury or collapses, he should be the starter the rest of the season as Cam Rising was ruled out for the year.
